Preparing propulsion

The Propellers Preparation

A major asset for good performance and preserving the engine and transmission of your boat.

The Modern Boat team takes particular care in propelling your boat, often neglected.

Unfortunately, cleaning this part of boat is too often done with acid. Product making metals porous and particularly bronze propellers which lose their robustness over the years.

Our experience over several years allows us to adapt propellers to products with different compositions which are modified due to environmental standards. Add to that the significantly increasing water temperature which makes certain products less effective.

The performance as well as the consumption of your boat depend on the clogging of your propellers and IPS Pods and other submerged parts.

These are often the cause of mechanical malfunctions, resulting in engine overheating as well as vibrations while sailing, leading to high fuel consumption.

Modern Boat has chosen for many years not to use acid for cleaning propellers and other submerged mechanical parts.

During all our fairing work, the propellers and Pods are removed, sanded manually by our technicians, the pod shafts are cleaned and greased.

We invite you to see in the attached photos, the condition of the propellers treated after a year and those on which no treatment had been carried out (apart from cleaning with acid). The difference is obvious and you will easily understand the repercussions on the performance of the boat and its consumption.

This is why we recommend carrying out this operation once a year.
